Lesson Taught
caring for trees
Notes
Alex B made a flow up visit on how the members are taking good care of trees. Alex asked them on how their trees are doing since in the previous meeting he taught them how to water them or preserve their own rain water. The members told hem that every one in the group has embraced the idea of watering their trees. The members reported an issue of the animals that are left to look for what to graze on since the whole area is without pasture and these animals end up destroying or eating the trees. Alex reminded them on the values of making strong hedges around their trees that would protect animals from eating or destroying the trees. He also advised them to often check on their trees often so that they can easily identify any problem concerning their trees. He also advised the group to talk to the owner of the cows not to let them eat their trees. Alex B advised them to dig big trenches around their trees but not close to them.He told them as they water,to pour water in the trench to cool the area around it to a big distance and this would help them to preserve rain water. He also advised them to always make sure that the hedges have no leaves that will attract the animals as they feel like to eat them, they end up destroying their trees. The need for checking up with each other’s trees because it will help them to learn from one another how to care for them. The members after went for the demonstration on how to make the trench around the trees which voluntarily done to one of the members Swaibu Kigoolo as Alex B.
