Notes
Enock and Martin visited this village to meet with the local leaders talk about the upper coming triggering session. When they reached, they walked to the chairman LC1s home who was waiting to receive them. We told the chairman to also invite the VHTs to come for the meeting. During the meeting we were welcomed by the local leaders in this village and they were so eager to hear from us. We introduced to them our names and what we have come to do. In the meeting we talked about the baseline survey which was conducted last year and showed they didn’t how many people didn’t have latrines and many cases of open defection. The chairman and VHTs saw how many people in their community practice open defection. We spoke about the upcoming meeting and triggering session, told them the importance so that they are all on board to help in monitoring, mobilizing their fellow residents to come for the triggering session. They Chairman was so happy to here that we are coming to educate them about the core values of sanitation and hygiene. After the meeting we walked in a few homes to also participate in mobilizing the residents to come for the general meeting talking about open defection and how they can get better solutions to it. We also talked about the facilities which make up a good home and promotes standardization of all the facilities which we shall be emphasizing in the general triggering session. The chairman and VHTs also told us how many children suffer from many diseases brought by poor sanitation say diarrhea, dysentery and more.
