Notes
Suzan and Jessica went to the village to build a demonstration stove together with the community members. When they arrived at the village, they met some members on their way to one of the members home where the demonstration process was going to be carried out. The members were so glad to see Jessica and Suzan that day and informed them how other members were still digging and planting seeds in their gardens while others were already at the home busy arranging the building materials. Together they walked to the home and found some members participating in mixing the dirt and grass. Jessica and Suzan joined in stamping the dirt until it got ready for building. Later on the dirt was taken inside the kitchen and every member was encouraged to participate in each step so as to learn and try mastering the skills easily. The members also kept on asking questions during the demonstration process which was important because some of them hadn’t mastered other steps perfectly. After building the energy saving stove, Kibo staff went to the homes where the members had built stoves on their own and corrected their mistakes while they demonstrated how to remove the banana stems out of them. Jessica requested the members to always practice building stoves on their own for this would make them perfect builders with time. Kibo staff thanked all members for taking part in the demonstration process and requested them to continue with the same spirit of working together for an effective development and a healthy living in their community. The community thanked Kibo staff for the healthy and safe kitchen program and then closed the meeting with a prayer after they all agreed on the date and time that the next meeting would take place.
