Notes
Ida,and Irene. Went to Kitukiro and taught about Maternal and infant care. The community was active and participated very well. Irene introduced Maternal and child care as the topic. Irene asked the community the meaning of the topic Namutosi said it’s when a mother takes care of her baby and Waiswa said it’s when a father or man cares for his wife and children, on addiction to what they said Irene said it’s the overall care or wellbeing of mothers of child bearing age before conception, during pregnancy, and after pregnancy, their children and families. Irene continued to ask the members the common causes of maternal, and child death? These are the answers women gave, loose, bleeding, the placenta, and cholera. Irene said the most common causes of death are bleeding, prolonged labor, infections after delivery which may lead to rotting of the reproductive organs, high blood pressure, criminal abortions, and in infants. malaria, measles, malnutrition, coldness after birth, severe cough and difficult in breathing and many others. She also encouraged the community to ask questions. Mutesi asked what should be done when the baby doesn’t breath well after being born Irene encouraged the mothers to always go and deliver from the health centers and hospital and always to seek help whenever there is a problem, she also encouraged them to continue visiting the hospital even after childbirth.
