Ws Notes
David and Steven were in kigalama village at the school community borehole. But before reaching kigalama , they first visited the borehole which was disconnected in Nawaibete village. The borehole in Nawaibete was disconnected some week back by the Kibo staff because the Nawaibete community they had failed to take the good care and ownership of their borehole. However David and Steven decided to bypass their on their way before reaching at the kigalama primary school borehole. Because one of the most active members on the borehole committee mr Godfrey had called the Kibo staff all over the weekend that they had constructed a good fence and sock pit at the borehole. Unfortunately the Kibo staff were not impressed by what they found after a full week duration. The Kibo staff found when the fence which they had constructed was still missing some bigger poles for it to meet the Kibo standard. On that note David and Steven demonstrated before them what was needed. They told the members that they were supposed to remove by replacing the weaker smaller poles by the bigger poles. David and Steven continued and even illustrated for the members how they were supposed to channel the running water from the sock pit. Instead of them living it just to log stagnantly . Unfortunately the water would let the mosquitoes to harbor in the sock pit causing malaria to the entire village. Mr Godfrey promised the Kibo staff that he was going to take a lead towards the good borehole maintenance and ownership. After all that the Kibo staff left for kigalama . At the kigalama community school borehole, which some way back they had repaired they also had issues. Therefore mis Sanyaa who is a member on the borehole committee had called the Kibo staff also over the weekend for some borehole advises .The Kibo staff found them under the mangle tree just at the borehole. They discussed about why the community had to force the borehole caretaker stand down .The village members said that he was missing their borehole money they used to contribute by using his other business. Therefore the committee would not let that continue to happen . The Kibo staff helped the committee members by encouraging them to always be reversing their borehole bylaws. Where it states by giving the community the mandate to let the weaker community members be replaced by stronger members on the committee. However the members went ahead and sported one member who was active and just closely to the borehole. They replaced him by the other member who was miss treating the people. They also told David and Steven that they had 150000 shillings as their borehole account balance. They were advised to always continue contributing more money towards their borehole account for their future borehole sustainability . David also continued advising them to always having borehole assessments meetings as away of monitoring how they will progressing. In general the hygiene and sanitation of the entire village was good except for the few homes which were missing the fire saving stoves .
