Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Tape and Jessica went to the village to monitor the progress of the healthy and safe kitchen program. When they arrived there, they came close to some community members who were on their way to the meeting place. The members happily welcomed them and together they walked to the meeting place and found more members gathered under a mvule tree. After exchanging greetings, Tape and Jessica informed the members of their intentions that day which was to move around the village monitoring the program facilities. Together they began walking around the village visiting home to home while looking at different program facilities. Some members had maintained their facilities especially by smearing their stoves and kitchens, they also reported that the stoves were cooking so well and faster making life easier. It also improved on their healthy lives in a way that they no longer suffered from smoke which caused red eyes and chest pains. Kibo staff also requested those who had poor broken facilities such as the stoves, kitchens, drying racks, shower areas and latrines to repair and maintain them as well as to improve on their sanitation and hygiene for a healthy living. Kibo staff thanked members for participating in the program lessons and encouraged them to keep smearing their homes and stoves in case the mud went off. The community thanked Kibo group for the good programs introduced to their village so far and requested to send them more in case there were any. The meeting came to an end with a prayer from a community member.
