Notes
Enock and Martin made a visit in this village to check on the progress of sanitation and hygiene levels ever since the triggering session. They met the chairman and other local leaders waiting on them to walk around the community sensitizing, evaluating, encouraging the residents to work hard and change from their old behaviors which included open defecation but to embrace to the use of latrines and construct good structures. When we walked around, we saw some new latrines, shower area, dish racks which are really looking great. Enock and Martin encouraged them to use Ash in Latrines to chase flies, smear the latrine and shower facilities, properly use dish racks to dry all the utensils before they serve food to their families. During the follow up visit, we discussed with the chairman which area do we have to visit and need more employees, they told us in the upper section, so what we did Enock and Martin split and took different sections so that they can reach a good number of homes. Martin took the lower section with two VHTs where they saw two new latrines which they are still digging and encouraged the residents how to construct and build a good foundation base with strong logs and mud then they can construct the walls on it. There are also two families which people thought they wouldn’t improve on their home since they were very old, surprisingly they found them completing their new dish rack and the old lady was busy smearing their kitchen room. This was so amazing to see and encouraging the rest of the young couples to be more serious and work even more harder since they still have a lot of energy. The residents have embraced the program and working so hard to improve on the sanitation levels.
