Notes
Alex went to Bulinda to meet with the local leaders and the water user committee to be able to discuss about involving everyone into the Kibo program of their borehole repair and maintenance. He had also gone to have a general look at the village to asses the hygiene and sanitation standards of the village. The village is currently carrying out hygiene and sanitation with encouragement from another N.G.O. called plan international. The community is being encouraged to have pit latrines, rubbish pits, kitchens, drying racks and hand washing stations. When they moved around the village, there were so many new facilities in place and tippy taps are being constructed in almost every home you move to. The dish racks also were seen in every home and these are being taught and encouraged by the vhts. Most facilities are strong and a few individuals need to be encouraged on facility standards. In general, there is a great sanitation improvement in the village and there is a great sense of ownership when you ask an individual if at all they see any benefits. Kibo will build on this status to encourage everyone in the village to have all the facilities in their homes and also encourage the village to contribute money towards their borehole repair and maintenance. Kibo will go back to meet with all the water users to discuss about how much they can raise and how much Kibo group can contribute towards their borehole repair. They will also move around the homes emphasizing on facility standards
