Notes
Harriet and Suzan went to the village with the purpose of introducing the healthy and safe kitchen program to the community members. However when they arrived there, they only found about three members sitting at the meeting place who welcomed them and informed them of some members who would soon join them in the meeting since they were still preparing lunch for their families. Later after a few minuets, the members increased in number and the meeting begun with a prayer from one of the community members. Harriet welcomed all the members for gathering and made reviews of the lessons that were carried out in the previous meeting. She also requested each member to kindly introduce theirselves by mentioning their names and where they lived for easy identification. And after the introduction process,Harriet invited Suzan to introduce the Healthy and Safe kitchen program to the community. Suzan went ahead and introduced the program, its goals and objectives and how it would benefit them within their community. She talked about empowering them with the skills of building the new energy saving stoves that would greatly improve on their healthy lives once they agreed to attend the entire program lessons . The members also participated during the meeting by identifying different challenges they faced while they used the three stones open flames for cooking such as inhaling smoke, consuming much firewood, taking hours searching for firewood in the forests, children getting burnt and many more. And by doing this enabled them to understand the need to improve on their healthy lives. She also informed the members of the requirements needed in each home before getting a stove such as a bathroom, latrine, rubbish pit, drying rack and a kitchen with a strong wall and roof. And also all the houses needed to be smeared so as to look much more neater. She then asked if they were ready for the program and all the members raised their hands as a sign of accepting it. Kibo staff thanked the members for accepting the program and then together they agreed on the date, time and venue that the next meeting would take place. The members were so grateful for the program promising to attend all the lessons. The meeting then came to an end with a prayer from the L.C.1 chairperson, wishing Kibo staff a safe journey back home.
