- Together with 4 community members, visited 8 homes to check on the Sanitation facility standards. Many of the facilities like dish racks were too old and majority of the people don’t have dish racks. Some pit latrines are very old and no longer meet the standards. However, some households have managed to construct new pit latrines to replace those that had collapsed. While in the meeting with the village leaders, they all agreed that the village sanitation standards had deteriorated and there were many new households that have been put up in the village but do not have some of the sanitation facilities in place. The village leaders, kalori Tatya ,the secretary water user committee, Vht Stephen mugote told Alex that the number of households in the village has shoot up to 180 households. On a good note, the village came together to repair their well that broke down two weeks ago but Alex told the water user committee to work on building a new borehole fence and the flooded soak pit. The WASH team is planning to carry out a baseline survey in the village next week to determine the sanitation status of the village and have a way forward.
