- Health lesson 9: Disease Recognition
- Notes
- Irene went to Nabikenge to continue with disease recognition basically teaching the signs, symptoms and cancer treatment. Irene continued with a review of the previous lesson then asked the members to give some of the signs that could indicate cancer disease.
The members gave several examples and on addition, Irene gave more examples giving the different signs that could present depending on the type of cancer for example if one has breast cancer the signs could be a lump, nipple changes or discharge, and more examples accordingly.
However she emphasized that not all the signs could be concluded to be of cancer disease unless scanned and confirmed by a specialist. Irene therefore encouraged the members to go for cancer screening and for the women, Irene taught them how to carry out self breast examination to rule out breast cancer and Incase of the cancer disease take proper treatment as directed by the doctor.
Irene then asked the members to ask questions regarding the lesson and with interactive discussions the members asked if by any chance the Kibo community can get other specialists to go and screen them for cancer. Irene advised them to utilize their hospitals because they have the specialists and that Kibo has provided the knowledge so it should be an eye opening to them to prevent and treat diseases.
