Notes
Suzan and Tape went to the village to teach the community members how to build the fuel efficient stoves. When they arrived there, they found the members already stamping the dirt at one of the members home where the demonstration process was going to be carried out. They happily welcomed Kibo staffs with songs of joy while dancing at the same time which indicated that they enjoyed every activity carried out for the healthy and safe kitchen program. Tape and Suzan went ahead and joined the members in stamping the dirt until it got ready for building the stove. There after the dirt was carried into the kitchen and Kibo staffs began building the stove while the members stood aside watching carefully. Tape and Suzan kept on explaining every step to the members such as identifying the wind direction which would enable the stove to lite fire and cook faster, taking measurements between the saucepans placed in the stoves and the stems which were going to be fixed into the stove to creat the holes. This was important because it enabled them to learn easily without being left behind. They also encouraged them to keep asking questions whenever they didn’t understand a particular step. When the first stove was finally completed, together they moved to another member’s home and again Kibo staff demonstrated how the stove was built while explaining each step to the members, this was carried out until the second stove was built. The entire community cheered up singing and rejoicing upon the complete built stoves which attracted more members to come to the site and see what was going on. They thanked Kibo group for the healthy and safe kitchen program introduced to their village saying it would greatly improve on their healthy lives. Kibo staff thanked all the members for attending the program and left the village after they both agreed on the date that the next meeting would take place.
