- Notes
- Suzan went to the village with the purpose of teaching the community how to remove the banana stems from the fuel efficient stoves. When she arrived there, she met some members sitting around church who warmly welcomed her.
One of the committee leaders informed Suzan how they had lost a child of one of their members late in the night due to severe malaria, and that for that reason it was impossible to carry out the intended activity that day because most of the members had already left for the burial ceremony while others were preparing to leave.
However he went ahead and updated Suzan with some of the program activities which were still going on within their village such as smearing their houses like the shower areas, latrines, main houses, kitchens and stoves. Some members had also started building the stoves for money at the neighboring villages which was so encouraging because it turned up to be one of their income generating activities.
He also reported that the stoves had improved greatly upon their healthy lives in away that the women no longer suffered from smoke inhalation which caused cough and chest infections. Suzan thanked them for the good work and encouraged them to continue working together as a community for an effective development and then left the village after agreeing on the date that the next meeting would take place.
