- Notes
- Tape and Jeska went to the village purposely to guide the community in selecting their own leaders who would lead them while implementing the healthy and Safe kitchen program activities.
When they got their, they found the members already gathered under a big tree where the meeting was going to take place. They warmly welcomed kibo staff to the village and the chairperson L.C.1 opened the meeting with a prayer. He later invited kibo staff to take over the meeting. Tape and Jeska reminded the members of the activity that day and went ahead explaining the importance of selecting the committee leaders with each one carrying out their responsibilities.
Kibo staff also requested the members to vote for their own leaders because they knew each other better than Kibogroup staff and to make sure that they selected the right people who would guide them effectively in the program activities.
A group of leaders were selected on that day such as the; chairperson and his vice, secretaries, treasurer who would be responsible for keeping the stove materials, the mobilizers, time keepers and the disciplinary officer. Kibo staff explained the duties and responsibilities to each leader and requested them to always work hard and coordinate with their fellow members in the program activities, for this would enable them to develop effectively within their community.
A few policies were also created on that day which the members would follow as they carried out different activities such as keeping time, equal participation of both men and women, building a strong kitchen and smearing it before getting a stove. The members also agreed on the fine that any member would get once they dodged coming to the meeting.
The members were so grateful for the decisions made that and promised to cooperate with their leaders in all ways. Kibo staff thanked all the members for their time and left the village.
