Notes
Our visit to kitukiro was purposefully to deliver tree seedlings to the community members as we had promised them on our previous visit. Abraham and chris had to make sure that everyone had understood why trees were so important to our community so that no one would be left behind. Abraham and chris carried 400 Mvule and 200 Musizi tree seedlings to kitukiro village who they found had already gathered. This time around we found two government officials that is chairman LC1 and the parish councilor . The chairman LC1 talked about two important things, first, he talked about two great things he always hears about Kibo in different districts like giving safe water wells, providing safe kitchens and making sure every home has a pit latrine. Secondly he commended Kibo for emphasizing a spirit of togetherness, he said this has simplified his work in the community. When Abraham was invited, he encouraged the community members to irrigate their trees since rain is not enough to sustain their growth. Because some members were sceptic about planting trees, they thought after planting trees Kibo would come back and claim them but Abraham assured them that the trees belong to them and are freely given to them to plant for the good of their environment and also to improve their income levels. At the end of the day, everyone had the motivation to plant the trees because they now understood the benefits of trees to them and the community. The chairperson distributed the tree seedlings to every member and they were so happy about it. Abraham and chris advised the community members to register their names with the chairperson and also advised them to form a five member committee before our next visit.
