Notes
Suzan went to the village purposely to discuss with the members on how to scale out to the neighboring villages in building the fuel efficient stoves. When she arrived there, she got the members already gathered at the meeting place with their leaders who warmly welcomed her and sat down together exchanging greetings and discussed about the healthy and safe kitchens activities carried out so far. According to the discussions, most members were now cooking on their stoves and managed to repair their dish racks as well as smearing their buildings. Some members complained about the termites eating up their dish racks and hand washers whenever they built them and didn’t know what to do next. Suzan fixed the date with the members where they would come together and find possible solutions to some of the challenges they faced. She then requested the members to work together as a group in building the stoves for the members at the neighboring villages, for this would also earn them some money which they would use to buy some home basics. It also helped the members realize that not only did it end in their homes, but stove building turned out to be one of their income generating activities especially among the youth. Suzan encouraged the community to always maintain all their facilities such as the kitchens, stoves, shower areas, pit latrines, rubbish pits and dish racks for a better healthy living. The members thanked Suzan for the advice and lessons taught that day, promising to work harder in the program activities for an effective development within their community. Suzan then wished them a happy stay and left the village.
