Notes
Irene went to Nabikenge to continue with the immunization lesson basically to teach about the different immunized diseases and to also discuss the minor reactions after vaccination. With a reminder of the previous lesson Irene asked the members the different Killer diseases that are immunized against, lsabirye mentioned the six that were in the daily routine and then added hepatitis B vaccine that has been on going in the country, Namukose mentioned the new one that has been introduced to the babies in the mouth apart from polio that has been in the routine and Irene had to inform them that it’s rota vaccine and it’s benefit. On addition to that Irene mentioned more vaccines and how they protect our bodies, the different sites, those that can be provided and those that are not freely provided by the Government. On addition to that Irene also discussed about the different reactions that one may experience after they have been immunized like a temperature, swelling of the site and redness of the site though the mothers mentioned different local ways that they use to avoid the different reactions. Use of an onion, cold bottle, a wet clothe and many others which Irene discouraged because of the infections that may be introduced to the site. After the lesson the members asked several questions that Irene answered and after encouraged the members to go for immunization and also take the babies for the routine immunization.
