Notes
Harriet found the participants waiting at the meeting place. The chairperson of the group Kamida Hadija opened the meeting with a prayer and thanked kibo and the community for turning up for the meeting. Harriet asked the community to discuss factors that hinder some people to cook on their stoves on daily basis. One woman called Namukwana told the group that for her she prefers and loves cooking on her stove because it cooks fast and saves firewood however she has also maintained the three stones in her kitchen because her mother in law is a traditional believer who doesn’t eat fish nor eat food cooked on the stove that has cooked food. This was a challenging situation for Harriet to handle because it hard to directly discourage the mother in laws culture that will lead to separation except she reminded them about the dangers of cooking on open flames. She also told the group that for homes with such cases they can address them by building another fuel efficient stove to take care for such cases to avoid dangers that may result from cooking on open flames. The group thanked for such an idea and promised to build extra stoves in the kitchen since they now have the skill for building stoves. Harriet also told the members to ensure that their facilities are well smeared for them to look neat and last longer. She also encouraged them to ensure that before a members gets a stove in her kitchens to have all her facilities well smeared for the program to be effective. The group promised to implement such ideas and also to have monthly meetings so that they can follow up on the progress of each other.

Next Visit: 2019-09-25 - Purpose: Follow up on stove building and smearing of the home facilities.
