Lorna went back to Bukhudumira Primary School to continue with the review on HIV/AIDS. It is important that the pupils understand this topic so as they can protect and take care of themselves not to get infected with HIV/AIDS when young.
Overview
Lorna went back to continue with the revision on the topic HIV/AIDS Awareness. She asked the pupils to remind her where they stopped and they mentioned Disease Progression and positive behavior. She then asked one person to explain all the 3 stages of HIV diseases progression and she did explain to the whole class. Lorna asked the class to clap for her. Lorna the. Went on to cure and treatment where she explained to them what cure means and what treatment means.she mentioned that treatment can most of times lead to cure although for some diseases like HIV /AIDS, hepatitis these don’t cure but can be treated. She went ahead and told the HIV/AIDS has no cure but can be treated. They then discussed what the treatment entails where they mentioned; ARVs , eating a balanced diet, resting, doing some exercises, prayer, counseling among others. They also looked at mother to child transmission where they looked at ; the ways through which HIV is transmitted from an HIV positive mother to her child. They mentioned through breast milk and at birth. They also looked at different ways the mother can prevent her child from getting HIV . For example; through getting a c-section, stopping breastfeeding at 6months, using a condom while having sex to avoid reinfection, taking their medicine religiously among others.
After the review Lorna told them they will be looking at Relationship Skills. She gave them a preview of what they will be looking at under this topic. She mentioned the types of relationships and what a good relationship involves, she mentioned they will be looking at Love ; what is love ,types of love among others.
