- Notes
- Harriet went to Bupeni village with an intention of following up on the smearing of the home facilities. She got into the village and asked the Chairperson of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program program in this village Mr. Bwana to walk with her through the homes.
This visit was intended to see how the members are progressing as far as the healthy and Safe kitchen program is concerned also to guide and encourage them Incase mistakes were found.
They walked home to home while inspecting the stoves and other facilities. They walked through around twenty homes and found only five homes not smeared their stoves and other facilities.
Harriet talked them , reminded them about the importance of smearing their home facilities as helping the stoves to long last, look neat as well as prevent insects like jiggers that may cause diseases.
One of the members told Harriet that she wanted to smear her kitchen but her husband stopped her that he wanted to plaster his kitchen himself since it was built by bricks he doesn’t want it to be smeared with cow dung. Harriet took an opportunity to talk to this man(Mugoya) to confirm that he is really going to work on his kitchen.
He told Harriet that he stopped his wife from smearing because he also wants to participate in the Healthy and Safe kitchen program since his wife participated and got a stove that has improved their family life.
She also told other members also about smearing their stoves and other facilities and they promised to do it with in two weeks time.
