Notes
Introduction Lorna has not been to this village in a period of about 2 months and so she went back here to carry out a review on the lesson she previously taught to check if they still remembered and were practicing. Overview When Lorna arrived the village she started with the chairman’s place which is the first house as one is entering this village. She found the chairman having a meeting with about 5 men of which one of them was involved in a motor accident and the victim of the accident was hospitalized and therefore, the family of the victim wanted to make sure that the one who knocked the old woman would cater for the medical bills else they destroy his house. The chairman apologized that he would not be able to attend the meeting which Lorna said it is okay and also very unfortunate. After here, Lorna went on to the meeting place where she sat for some minutes and just a few people had come.Since Lorna had taken quite a while without coming to this village, the turn up was not all that good. When the community members came Lorna decided to review the communication skills topic where, they reviewed the topic together. They looked at importance of communication skills where Lorna asked the community members to remind her or if communicating was important anyway. They mentioned to pass on information, to resolve conflicts, to create friendships among others.Lorna also talked about the communication styles of Aggressive ,Assertive and passive and the characters under these. She urged the community members to think of where they fall and improve where necessary.she also talked of the importance of talking to their children and the way to deal with the different ages since, the way one talks to a 5,6,10 year old is not the same as the teenager. She also talked about the importance of communicating as husband and wife and as a family as a whole. She urged them that almost every problem that rises up in a family is a communication problem. Whether it is food, cheating, if these issues are not talked about, it could escalate and the results would not be nice. At the end of the meeting , one man spoke to Lorna to help her get his HIV medicine for him. He told Lorna that he does not have transport to go to the hospital. However this was not the issues because Lorna asked him what he does and he said that he looks for any work opportunity and he works where he gets paid some little money. Lorna asked him how much it is to go to the hospital and he said 3000/=. Lorna told him that that is not the problem. The problem was he moved from where he was staying before and since then did not receive any further treatment. He told Lorna he can bring his book for her to see and then help him get medicine . Lorna encouraged him to go by himself because his problem was he was scared they would ask him why he has not received treatment for the past almost two years. However Lorna encouraged him to go because she cannot bring him medicine when she doesn’t know where he stands and supposing the medicine affects him who will be to blame?. Lorna also advised him to eat more than he drinks and get enough rest too. He promised to go to the hospital. Conclusion Lorna will introduce Relationship Skills in the next meeting when the attendance is better than today’s.
