Notes
Suzan, Jessica and Tape went to Kagulu B to guide the participants as they build stoves on their own. When they arrived there, they got the members already at the meeting place with their committee group members next to the mosque. The community welcomed Kibo staff with happiness and afterwards settled down for a meeting. During the meeting, the group chairperson informed Kibo staff about the sudden changes they made about building stoves that day due to luck of grass and other materials and this was because it had been raining nonstop which blocked every activity from moving on at that time. They decided to hold a meeting and discuss about issues concerning the program activities such as smearing of the buildings, stove building and constructing of new facilities. The meeting was well organized with all the committee group members present which was so impressive to see. During the meeting, the members were given a chance to speak about any challenges they faced during the program activities and while cooking on their new stoves. This was very important because it enabled them to identify possible solutions to their challenges as well as assisting one another in improving on their facility maintenance in general. Kibo staff kept on answering questions and guiding them throughout the meeting since most of them didn’t know how to deal with certain situations especially those in conflicts. In the meeting, the members also discussed about opening up a savings account beginning in January 2020 saying this would enable them solve their family issues and also buy home basics such as mattresses, bicycles, clothings and other items. By the end of the meeting, every member agreed to continue working together as a team during stove building especially at their neighboring villages and to join the savings group account which would benefit them in future with their families. They thanked Kibo staff for their guidance and the meeting came to an end with a prayer from madam namukose.
