- Notes
- Suzan went to the village to follow up on the smearing activity and the maintenance of the fuel efficient stoves. When she got there, she met some members and their group leaders sitting at the meeting place. She was warmly welcomed to the village and together they sat down and exchanged greetings, then they discussed a few issues/updates concerning the healthy and safe kitchens program activities.
They all agreed to walk around the lower side since it was a big village divided into two parts. They began visiting home to home while monitoring different facilities and according to some observations, most of the crops in the gardens had been destroyed by pests especially the maize and sweet potatoes. The entire community looked so miserable in way that they weren’t able to carry out some of the program activities such as smearing their remaining houses and building stoves at their neighboring villages.
However, some members had improved on their general sanitation and hygiene and smeared all their buildings. Others were found cooking on their fuel efficient stoves and reported to no longer suffer from smoke inhalation and eye infections. The stoves also consumed less firewood yet cooked food faster and everyone was able to have food in time. Suzan felt sorry for the members upon losing their crops and food in the gardens, she encouraged them to stay strong and keep praying for the situation to normalize since it was affecting the entire country. Suzan thanked everyone who managed to maintain their facilities and requested others to do so for a healthy living. The members thanked Suzan for the advice given and wished one another a happy stay.
