Lesson Taught
Bible Lesson Five: God’s forgiveness
Notes
Ida went to Buluvu and taught about God’s forgiveness. She asked the community to tell her what they understand by the word forgiveness. Farida said to forgive is let go of bad things or thought that someone did to you. Kawanguzi said that to forget all things that may cause you do something wrong. Maka said that it is to pay back good to those who wronged us. Ida asked Betty to read from Mathew 18:21-35. Some silence after the reading then Stephen Kawanguzi said that the Bible is “living” because what Betty has just read is all pinning us all. He gave an example of men and women. Women forgive fast and maybe that’s the way God made them but men don’t forgive easily and never ask for forgiveness. Women laughed and praised Stephen for being open and taught the right thing and not siding with men. Atanansi Kika said that the Bible explains the issue very well and we are not asked but commanded by Jesus Him self to forgive so as to be forgiven period. Julius said that he promised never to forgive a man who impregnated his daughter until Jesus comes back. After the lesson Julius promised to go to the man’s house and forgive him because if he doesn’t God will not forgive him. Everyone was happy because the community knows all between the two men. Stephen thanked Kibo for bringing the forgiveness lesson at the right time and are waiting to see how it will be when those two men forgive each other. Ida concluded the meeting with a prayer asking God to soften our hearts and help us forgive our neighbors.
