Tom made a visit to a village called kiwumgu after the directors of the organization from that village contacted some of the kibo board members about kibo uganda especially the wash program to help them with improving hand washing in the village they are located.
The organization had mobilized the village residents and at about 3:00pm, the lessons started. Tom took the residents through the triggering session where he used a few triggering tools like the boiled egg, charcoal, washing with and without soap and displaying the water in the clear plastic bag and many more tools.
The residents were very happy and they were very good in participating.
Tom did not right away decide for them which kind of hand washing structure to build but they had a discussion about the tippy tap and listed the challenges they faced with the tippy tap. Some of the challenges ranged from poles being rated by termites to jericans being stolen as well as challenges of management of the tippy tap.
After Tom shared with them about the hand washing stand constructed from bricks. They were very happy to see the new model and Tom demonstrated on how to construct it at one of the residents home’s.
The leaders of the organization were very happy for the lessons. They promised to always follow up and make sure that the program is implemented.
