Notes
Jessica and Suzan went to the village to monitor the stove usage and to encourage the community members to construct the high risen firewood storages in their kitchens. When they arrived there, they found some of the committee group leaders at the meeting place outside the community hall. They welcomed them happily and after a few discussions concerning the program activities, they agreed to walk around the village with the intention of monitoring different facilities in each member’s home. During the monitoring process, it was observed that most facilities such as the latrines, shower areas, dish racks and kitchen roofs were in bad condition and the chairperson mr. mulindwa said that they were destroyed by the previous storms and most members were preparing to reconstruct them. Almost all the 36 group members were also found cooking on their fuel efficient stoves although they needed to smear and repair the cracked areas. Some people had not constructed the firewood risen storages in their kitchens and complained by saying that the termites had destroyed them, eating up all the wood/poles that they used for constructing them. Kibo staff requested kindly the members to see that they put up new firewood storages so as to save firewood in times of scarcity and to repair or rebuild their facilities which were destroyed by the rains as well as smearing all their buildings. Kibo staff thanked all the members for participating in the program activities and encouraged them to improve on their sanitation and hygiene around their homes for a better healthy living. The members were so grateful for the advice and lessons learnt that day and the meeting came to an end.
