Notes
Martin went to Ibaako, he walked around with the Chairman LC1 and the sanitation committee members. Their intention was to check on the sanitation and hygiene improvement in that village. The big number of homes are busy working on their sanitation facilities like digging their new pit latrines, constructing them, others who have constructed them, they have started plastering them. And others have worked on other facilities like rubbish pits, kitchens, shower areas and dish racks. For example Mugoya Alajabu, dug his new latrine 30ft deeper, he constructed it, he is plastering it, Kagoya Siida constructed a new dish rack, and it’s working, Nabirye Zabiya’s new latrine 25ft deep, it’s under construction and she started with a slab, Sitefano Paul, he was not easy to work on their sanitation facilities since kibo started working in that village. But the group was so encouraged to that he started digging the new pit latrine, it’s now 10ft deep, and he is continuing to make it 30ft deeper, which is so good and Alisi Nakisige, she is a widow, she is old, but good enough she constructed a new dish rack, and it’s working. So they was putting much emphasis on those who constructing their new latrines and encouraging them about the standards, maintenance and the use of ash to eliminate flies and smell in their latrines as well as their homes. Generally the community members in that village are willing to work with kibo, to work on their sanitation facilities. And for those who have worked hard on the facilities, they have seen the value of them, so the group was telling the residents to encourage each other about their sanitation facilities. And they was telling them that if you have a latrine, and your neighbors is not having it, your also in danger. Because flies can transfer the diseases from their up-to your home. As kibo is still working in that village, the group walked in 40homes.
