Notes
After three months of break, Alex B and Chris managed to yet again visit the village of Bukudumira. The visit was about meeting the community leaders and discuss about how things will move forward during the rest of the pandemic and how they intend to maintain the guidelines put in place by the ministry of Health. Alex B and Chris made preparations prior to the visitation which included calling the community leaders just to make them aware of our intended visitation, this is because Alex B and Chris wanted every one safe and comfortable. Alex and Chris found the leaders already seated ,social distance was highly observed and the hand washing facility was also in place which showed that actually the village members were aware of how the virus is spread and how to prevent it. Before they could settle for the meeting, Alex b and Chris observed the five leaders did not have the masks but thank God that kibo had provided five extra masks which Alex B gave out, the leaders were so happy for the masks. The chairperson of mvule community group opened the meeting and in her remarks she thanked kibo for being committed to go back to their community. She said as a group they thought kibo would never go back to their village , that they had almost given up so when they had that kibo was visiting them, they were so excited and so hopeful. The chairperson informed the meeting that as a group, they have been working on their garden since the president did not restrict farming during the lockdown so they used that chance as a group to work together and as a result ,they harvested their cow peas which they hope to sell and keep the money in their account. The chairperson also reported that they did not have any domestic violence related case compared to other communities because they believe women and men had been well trained by the men and women conferences that Kibo and church of Christ organizes every year and they thanked God for that. The chairperson also said that although the lockdown had affected them financially, they had stored enough food and were still growing more food in their gardens. About if they were safe with Alex B and Chris being in their community, the chairman Lc1 said as long as the guidelines are being followed, safety is guaranteed. About the community members’ expectation, the chairperson said members love development especially what kibo had started in the community. They are ready to start from where kibo had left them. About how 60 members will get information and how they will be represented since the government permits only below 8 people, the chairperson said they plan to set up 12 groups comprising of 6 members who will chose their representatives on the committee. The 6 members will discuss and forward their minutes to the committee for decision making. Alex B and and Chris plan to visit on Monday 29th 2020 to discuss more about how the members are going to be grouped into 12 groups and select their leaders who will represent their views.
