- Notes
- Suzan went to the village to follow up on the construction of the high risen firewood storages and the stove usage. When she got there, she met three committee group leaders who were already at the meeting place and they happily welcomed her.
It was wise to walk with a few members that day so as to avoid big gatherings.
Suzan together with the leaders agreed to visit about eight homes since they were few in a number. They went and began moving from the upper side of the village since many of the group members were staying almost next to one another. As they visited the homes, Suzan kept on asking the house owner to step out of the kitchen as she entered alone and began asking questions concerning the fuel efficient stoves and the firewood storages.
About 5 members out 8 who were visited that day didn’t have firewood storages saying that they were eaten up by the termites and were just planning to construct new ones. Also some members were found with broken cracked stoves which needed repair and smearing. Suzan went ahead and advised each member to see that they always repaired and smeared all their buildings more especially their kitchens which kept the fuel efficient stoves. This was because a bad kitchen will a poor roof and weak walls would affect the stove especially when it rains.
She also advised them to see that they constructed stronger firewood stands which would help them save firewood for the future. The members were grateful for the advice given and promised to improve on their facilities with their family members.
Suzan also requested the group leaders to always follow up on their members whenever they found free time and to help one another especially those who were sickly and vulnerable.
The members thanked Suzan for the visit that day and the meeting came to an end.
