Notes
Harriet went to Kitukiro to follow up on smearing of the home facilities ,roofing of the leaking kitchens and firewood storage. She reached in the village and started walking home to home with the Chairperson LC1 of the village and Khadijah the chairperson of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program. They wanted to follow up basically with the previous homes that had challenges of luck of firewood storage facilities ,leaking kitchens and those that were not smeared. They found when some people who had leaking kitchens had roofed them while others had also started roofing them or cut grass ready to use to roof the kitchens. This was encouraging and the chairperson said that from the time kibo followed up with their village every one got concerned and decided to improve their facilities. Also an increased number of participants had smeared their kitchens and stoves which was a good sign of ownership. The participants told Harriet that since kibo taught them to build stoves at a free cost they felt ashamed when kibo visited their village to remain them to improve on their facilities. They promised to maintain, follow up with each and ensure that every one has a well roofed kitchen ,smeared , the stove being used on daily basis as well as the presence of firewood storage stands in the kitchens. They also requested the Chairperson LC1 to help them follow up with those ones who doesn’t meet the standards, and punish them before kibo goes back in their village. HARRIET thanked them for that good iniatiative and encouraged them to teach them why those facilities are important to have in their homes. The chairperson LC1 thanked kibo and promised to work with his community until a positive change is achieved.
