Notes
Tom made a visit to kishaike village and when he arrived, he was welcomed by two committee members who took him around the village. But before they started moving, they had some specific homes they wanted to visit. One of them was a home of Mr Enock who for a long time has not yet finished his latrine or even a dish rack. So they requested Tom to visit him because they had seen he was there at his home. They arrived at mr Enoch’s home and found him playing a board game with his friend. The committee members requested him to take them to his Latrine. He led them to an old finish pit with logs. He said that it’s because he did not have bricks that is why he has not yet finished it. The committee members were not very happy with him and asked him to give them a specific period when his latrine will be done. He said it will be done in two weeks as well as a dish rack, shower and rubbish pit. Tom encouraged him to work for his family and work towards improving on the lives of his children. They also went to another home on the lower section and there they found when the resident was constructing the mud floor on the pit. Tom guided him on how to construct a good mud floor by mixing mud and good logs. In other homes, they were encouraging residents on the construction of hand washing stands and in 6 homes, they saw new hand washing stands that have been constructed. Tom encouraged the committee members to encourage the residents to put a layer of cement on the hand washing stands to make them stronger as well as more durable. Tom also encouraged the committee members to always follow up on the residents that are still lagging behind so that they finish their facilities.
