Tom and the police officer from the district made a visit to the village of Mpumiro to continue with the sensitization of the construction of hand washing stands. When they reached the village, they were welcomed by the chairman of the village whom together with the committee members, were constructing hand washing stands for the residents who had bricks, sand and cement available. The police officer was very impressed with the new hand washing stands as he had never seen them before. Tom also gave jericans to residents who had their hand washing stands finished. They moved from the chairman’s homes towards the upper section and on that day, they saw 7 new hand washing stands constructed and finished. he handed them 7 new jericans and they were very happy. They also visited homes which are working especially on latrines. In one home, they found the pit was about 4 ft. The chairman and the police officer advised him to continue working hard and improve on his sanitation and hygiene. In another home, they found when the family had dug a 25ft pit. The committee members, Tom and the police officer advised the family on using good construction materials and construct the latrine on good standard. Tom encouraged the chairman and the committee members to continue working hard towards improving on their hand washing through the construction of hand washing stands .
